Travis Wood went 7 strong innings and third baseman Miguel Cabrera had 4 hits
as the Lansdale Red Beards 4 defeated the slumping Long Island WeArePlayers4
by a score of 5 to 1 at SAFECO Field '13.
Wood(12-11) was very good in the win. He was stingy on the mound, allowing
just 3 hits and no walks in 7 innings. Wood was helped out by Cody Allen who
pitched a perfect ninth and recorded his 2nd save.
The loss was charged to Sonny Gray(7-18). Despite losing, he struckout 10
Lansdale batters in 6 and 2/3 innings. Lansdale won for the 6th straight
time. Island Lover was very irritated after the contest. 'Just our luck to
run into a team that's playing like a juggernaut right now. I have to
congratulate Red Beard on his team's recent performance. A very impressive
run.'
