Carlos Beltran slammed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Long Island
WeArePlayers4 rallied impressively to win in dramatic style over Lansdale Red
Beards 4, 9 to 8.
Long Island came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning as they scored 5
runs on 3 base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Jason Kipnis,
who thrilled the crowd when he doubled scoring two baserunners. Lansdale
scored in 5 different innings, but their shaky pitching kept them from
victory.
Jake Diekman(3-2) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3
innings. Glen Perkins(5-4) was charged with the loss in relief. Island Lover
was in great spirits in his post-game interview. Yet, when asked about his
feelings after the thrilling comeback victory, he volunteered, 'I'll tell you
this much - I know how my counterpart, Red Beard, feels right now - and it's
not very good. It's terrible when you come up on the short end of one of
these!'
