Designated hitter Brandon Belt had 2 base hits as the Killer Rabbits of
Caerbannog defeated the Chicago South Siders by a score of 3 to 1 at Dodger
Stadium '13.
Killer Rabbits came through with the game-winning runs in the 8th inning
scoring 2 runs. Matt Carpenter led off and started the rally when he drew a
walk. Belt came next and he doubled. After an out was recorded, Tanner
Scheppers stepped in and he let one slip out of his hand for a wild pitch
which plated a run. One out later, Kole Calhoun came to the plate and was
walked intentionally. Jose Iglesias stepped into the box and drew a walk to
load the bases. Joel Peralta then let a pitch get away from him scoring the
final run of the inning. Overall Killer Rabbits out-hit Chicago 7 to 4.
Brandon Kintzler(2-2) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory.
Mariano Rivera got the save, his 5th. Jake Peavy(1-4) was given the loss.
He gave up 3 runs and 7 hits in 7 innings.
