The Chicago South Siders registered 4 runs in the 4th inning and defeated the
Nevada Nukes by a score of 6 to 2 at Rangers Ballpark '13.
Chicago took the lead for keeps in the bottom of the 3rd inning with 2 runs
using 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Starling Marte keyed the rally when
he banged out a single. Elvis Andrus stepped up to the plate and he slapped
a one-base hit. Miguel Cabrera then doubled resulting in a run. Salvador
Perez came up and he would ground out scoring the final run of the inning.
Despite losing, Nevada out-hit Chicago 12 to 9.
Brandon Cumpton(9-9) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 5 innings.
Cumpton got help from Kenley Jansen who earned his 35th save. Jose
Quintana(11-9) took the loss. He was unable to control the Chicago offense
and allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
The Chicago ballclub's record now stands at 65-61. With the loss, the Nevada
ballclub's record is 71-55.
