Ed Walsh dominated striking out 12 McKay batters at Polo Grounds '41 where the
Las Vegas Whales beat the McKay Pinchers by the score of 4 to
1.
Walsh(14-10) came through with a virtuoso performance against the McKay
hitters. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 4 hits and no walks in 9
innings. Las Vegas managed 9 hits in their victory.
The losing pitcher was Bob Gibson(8-14). He pitched 7 innings and surrendered
9 hits and 3 walks. Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of Walsh -
except McKay. Austin Bishop lamented, 'He just was 'on' this afternoon. He
was keeping our guys off balance all game. A fine game by a good strikeout
pitcher - makes it a fun game for the hometown fans - unfortunately we were
the visitors!'
