Knights ended a long winless drought and topped the Y Tu Mama Tambien by the
slimmest of margins, 2 to 1.
The score was knotted at 1 after nine innings. New York finally pulled the
game out in the 13th inning. Cecil Travis ripped a base-knock. After an out
was recorded, Nap Lajoie came up and he slapped a base-hit making New York
victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. The game was a
scoreless duel until the 6th inning.
The win was credited to Ewell Blackwell(11-12) who went 1 inning allowing no
runs. Billy Wagner(5-3) was charged with the loss in relief. He pitched 1
and 1/3 innings giving up 2 hits and 1 walk.
When questioned, Pop Fisher remarked, 'It's been a while since a win felt this
good - heck, it's been a while since we had a win period!'
