Frank Thomas had 4 hits and 4 RBI and Eric Gagne closed it out for Y Tu Mama
as the Y Tu Mama Tambien defeated the BS1 Brookfield Sensationals by a score
of 14 to 9 at Ruppert Stadium (NeL).
Thomas had a big day at the plate. He lost the ball over the fence for three
runs (his 44th of the season) in the 1st inning, lined a one-base hit in the
3rd inning, doubled in the 5th inning and doubled which plated a run in the
6th inning. Y Tu Mama had 17 hits overall, while BS1 Brookfield had 9.
Joel Pineiro(15-9) got the win allowing 7 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. Pineiro
got help from Gagne who earned his 33rd save. Dizzy Dean(17-12) was charged
with the loss. He was knocked around, surrendering 4 runs in 3 innings.
'It's almost like the ball was trying to hit my bat,' Thomas said. 'Whenever I
would swing, the ball found the sweet spot.'
