24,590 fans were treated to a fine game at Comiskey Park '59 as only one run separated the combatants at game's end. The Cleveland Buckeyes scored 4 runs in the 3rd inning and won by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.

Wally Berger was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at their team's expense. He belted a three-run homer (his 12th of the season) in the 3rd inning and tripled resulting in a run in the 7th inning. The 60 Limping had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.

Norwood Gibson(8-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 4 runs. Chad Bradford got the save, his 13th. J.R. Richard(7-9) was the loser. Although losing the contest, he whiffed 16 batters in 9 innings.
