Joe Kelley had 2 base hits and Ray Sadecki went the distance at Forbes Field
'65 where the Sioux Falls Tries To Get Up beat the Beachmont Storm 4 to
2.
Sioux Falls took the lead off Rich Bordi in the first inning with 2 runs on 3
hits. Ken Smith started the inning off right when he laced a base-knock.
Willie McGee got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on
strikes. Kelley then laced a single. Sam Thompson stepped in and he hit a
sacrifice fly knocking in a run. Kelley then stole second base. Johnny
Bassler added to the uprising and was walked intentionally. Bill Doran came
to the plate and slapped a single scoring the final run of the inning.
Beachmont had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
Sadecki(4-2) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 2 runs. Bordi(1-1)
was the losing pitcher. He pitched 7 innings giving up 8 hits and 2
walks.
Despite losing Captain Slow was optimistic after the game. 'We'll get over
this one. Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't. Any one
of a dozen little things go different, and we come out on top.'
