In a dramatic ending at Turner Field '05 the St Louis Browns won in their last
at-bat beating the Daisy Hill Blockheads by the count of 7 to 6.
The game was decided in the bottom of the 9th inning. Ray Oyler doubled. Lou
Brock followed and he smacked a single. Brock took second on the throw. A
balk was called. Curt Flood came up and he drew a walk. Frank Robinson
stepped into the box and drew a walk to load the bases. Rip Collins
continued the rally and drew a walk making St Louis the victors to the
delight of the home town faithful. St Louis had a total of 14 hits for the
game.
The winning pitcher was Mellie Wolfgang(6-1) who allowed 1 run in 1 inning.
Luis Ayala(1-3) was the loser in relief. He surrendered 1 run and 4 hits in
1 and 1/3 innings.
No one has been able to stop St Louis lately as they lengthened their winning
streak to 6 games.
