Urban Shocker threw a complete game shutout and Willie McCovey had 4 hits and
3 RBI at Forbes Field '57 as the BS Detroit Overlords III, running on all
cylinders, ripped the Phillerdelphia Zombies by a large 11 to 0
margin.
McCovey provided the offensive punch. He smashed a two-run homer (his 2nd of
the season) in the 1st inning, delivered a single in the 2nd inning, doubled
in the 4th inning and ripped a base-knock plating a run in the 5th inning.
BS Detroit finished with 13 hits in the victory.
Shocker(2-1) went the distance for the shutout. Johnny Vander Meer(1-1) was
the loser. He served up 3 homeruns in his 1 and 1/3 innings.
