Steve Carlton racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts and second
baseman Roberto Alomar left the yard and had 2 RBI as the Foghorn team topped
the Barn Stormers by a score of 10 to 2 at Busch Stadium '05.
Carlton(4-3) pitched well for Foghorn in their victory. He allowed 8 hits and
4 walks in 9 innings. Foghorn totaled 10 hits on the afternoon.
Frank Smith(6-4) absorbed the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners
giving up 7 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings. Carlton was asked about
his big strikeout performance, 'Well, it's a little odd when you rack up
these numbers on the road - instead of cheers and a running tally in the
stands, everything gets real still and quiet. Just strange - but it's nice
to be able to take the crowd out of the game.'
