In a close game it was the South Park Italians 7, the Flatbed Ford Girls 5 at County Stadium '61.

South Park brought 3 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 2nd inning. The highlight belonged to Wade Boggs, who made the home-town crowd a happy bunch when he doubled scoring two baserunners. South Park had 10 hits for the afternoon.

Jack Taylor(7-2) was the winner allowing 5 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Jonathan Papelbon gained credit for his 14th save. The loss was charged to Earl Moore(3-6).
