George Brett lofted one into the 'cheap seats' at West Side Park '11 where the
Baratheon Stags beat the Asbury Park Artists in 15 innings 5 to 4.
Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings. Baratheon finally
pulled the game out in the 15th inning. After an out was recorded, Al
Simmons laced a base-hit. Hank Greenberg followed and he drew a walk. Brett
then singled to load the bases. Frank Thomas followed, but he was set down
on strikes. Glenn Beckert stepped into the box and stroked a single scoring
the run. Beckert took second on the throw. Baratheon had 17 hits for the
afternoon while Asbury Park had 12.
Don McMahon(4-4) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Willie
Hernandez(4-3) took the loss in relief. He gave up 3 hits and 2 walks in 3
and 2/3 innings.
