Third baseman Red Rolfe had 2 base hits at Dunn Field '20 as the Daisy Hill
Blockheads won in their last at-bat beating the Barnburner Pomeranians by the
count of 4 to 3.
The game was won by Daisy Hill with a run in the 9th inning. After an out was
recorded, Rolfe was hit by a pitch. Rolfe got a good lead and stole second.
Frankie Crosetti then drew a walk. Lefty O'Doul followed and he laced a
base-hit to load the bases. Nellie Fox stepped into the box and reached on
an error resulting in a mighty exciting win for Daisy Hill and the 23,138
home town fans in attendance. Daisy Hill had 11 hits overall, while
Barnburner had 5.
The win went to John Smoltz(2-2) who allowed no runs in 1/3 of an inning. John
Clarkson(12-17) was charged with the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing
