Lefty O'Doul had 2 base hits as the Daisy Hill Blockheads beat the Oregon
Stooges by a score of 5 to 3.
Daisy Hill scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning. The key offensive
moment was provided by Yogi Berra, who brought the crowd to their feet when
he cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 30th of the season).
Although they lost, Oregon did out-hit Daisy Hill 9 to 6.
Verdell Mathis(13-18) allowed 3 runs in 6 innings, and picked up the victory.
Mathis got help from Bruce Sutter who earned his 25th save. Johnny Vander
Meer(14-16) was charged with the loss.
